During her many tour travels, Jala-Jala enjoys collecting eclectic stories, and songs, all of which form part of her influences .e.g. Isla Cameron (Irish), Korean Folklore, Kofi Ghanaba – Guy Warren (Ghanaian), Newen Afrobeat (Chilé), Samara Joy (American), Khyaal Vocal Ensemble, Sarathy Korwar (Indian-American), Obongjayar (Nigerian-British), Benge, Sola Akingbola (Jamiroquai Band Percussionist).

With Jala-Jala, one moment you’re wrapped in the soft tones of meditative improvised melody, the next you’re caught up in the earthy drive of visceral outpouring of melodic power, with nods to the theatrical and World Music-influenced soundscapes along the way. Music that moves, but it also breathes – relaxed, generous, and deeply human. It leaves space for groove, experiments, and those moments where the music suddenly lifts the whole room.

Jala-Jala offers sound which is both extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this coated world, with the energy and passion that seeks to awaken what sits beneath.
